Environmentally Responsible Hydrovac Waste Disposal

Intelligent Soil Recycling (ISR) is focused on reducing the environmental footprint of the hydrovac industry.  We know our customers are also committed to partnering with companies who put environmental responsibility at the core of their operations.  In fact, doing what’s right for the environment requires thoughtful planning. At ISR, reducing the impact on the environment is built into every business decision we make.

We save our customers money by making it fast and easy to unload hydrovac waste so they can get to the next project that much quicker.  Our customers have the peace of mind that they are working with a company that puts the environment first.  What was once considered hydrovac waste, is now recycled into safe materials ready for reuse – often to refill the hole that was originally excavated.

Our convenient, central GTA location means that hydrovacs travel less distance to dispose of waste and are on the road less time- reducing their carbon footprint and their impact on the environment.  Less time spent on the road means more productive time can be spent on a jobsite.

“As a major utility company, it is important to minimize the impact on the environment. We want to work with like-minded, environmentally conscious businesses like ISR that are committed to providing high-quality services while doing the right thing for the environment.”

We Turn Hydrovac Waste into Valued, Environmentally Friendly Resources

At ISR, we view hydrovac waste as a resource awaiting its next use.  Using the latest technology, we change hydrovac liquid soil & slurry into valued resources.  Recycled water is used to refill hydrovac trucks.  Fine aggregates and sand are washed and extracted to meet the Ontario Provincial Standard Specification and used to refill excavated holes.  Silts and clays are converted from waste into clean fill.

In short, ISR turns what was once considered liquid industrial waste into locally sourced, recycled and renewed materials.

Our Recycling Process

Waste collected at the jobsite is unloaded at our on-premise recycling facility
Waste is separated and sorted into aggregate, sand, silt and clay
Recycled materials are ready for repurposing and reuse
Water is separated, cleaned and reused throughout the process

Protecting the Environment Now and in the Future

ISR’s commitment to protecting the environment extends well beyond soil processing and recycling to everyday operational practices.  We capture and divert rainwater from our roof for reuse within our plant. We use high efficiency LED lighting throughout our facility cutting down on energy consumption.  In the winter months, while ventilating our facility to meet code requirements, we repurpose the exhausted warm air to heat our outside operations.  And, we embed Lean manufacturing principles in all our operations – eliminating wasteful activities that impede progress or deplete value for our customers.

That’s sustainability at its core.  That’s the triple bottom line win – People, Planet and Prosperity. That’s Intelligent Soil Recycling.
